Incident Show at Rosalux
Incident embodies memory as secrets and fragments, and as a source of intrusion and obsession. Incident builds on the work done for Insomnia - Rebecca Krinke’s exhibition at Rosalux Gallery in 2014. Both installations draw upon a black four-poster bed from a period room at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and fairy tales - where strange beds, rooms, and cottages in the dark woods abound.
This new work, called Incident (after Insomnia), is a more feral piece – raising questions into the domestic and the undomesticated - animal and human, struggle, growth, beauty, stress, trauma, coping. Incident (after Insomnia) also continues the thread in Rebecca’s work of revealing one (or several) of her hundreds of black bound journal-notebooks.
A lexicon:

Black Feather/Bird: flocks, mobbing, messenger, migration, magical powers, familiar/uncanny, divination.
Straw: animal bedding/fodder, floors, beds, clothing, targets, taxidermy, woven, thatched.
